Ready Player Golf has raised funds for charity by playing golf in Virtual Reality since 2020, and has supported James' remarkable program since 2022. Formerly a program of the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, James and his wife Kristen have now started their own nonprofit, Bridging Rooms, where they continue to serve critically ill and immunocompromised children by bringing VR Headsets to hospitals. Imagine a kid with months to live who always wanted to be an astronaut. Bridging Rooms helps them become one. With Virtual Reality, (almost) everything is possible.
Bridging Rooms resonates so much with us in the VR golfing community that this year, we’re expanding our program and are inviting Real Life Golfers to join us in our efforts.
Whether you play golf at your local golf course or in the US Open, we would love to bridge our rooms and raise money for this incredible cause together.
There are several ways to join us.
Team up.
Rally your community at your Golf Club and create a fundraising team of any size, invite members and friends to contribute, and compete to raise the most for Bridging Rooms. Click on Register to Play on this website and create a team. Please indicate that you are an IRL golf team in your team name.
Film it:
In VR, we team up on November 13 and then we have an acknowledgment ceremony on November 14 where we honor teams and show clips from our VR golf games. Please send us a clip from your team so we can honor you too. Please send it by November 1.

Q: I don’t have a VR Headset, but I would love to participate in the Acknowledgement Ceremony. Is there a way to do that?
A:Yes! In fact, you can join both our networking pre-game party and the Acknowledgment Ceremony on your PC or Mac. Please contact helen.erwin@readyplayer.golf to learn more.
Q: Can I play golf on a PC or Mac, too?
A: No, to play golf in VR you will need a VR Headset.
